Wonderful walks in Astoria

Several walking tours up north in Astoria (I can't personally attest to these but they have a good rep!

Guided Tours

Lower Columbia Preservation Society Tour: Every Sunday morning from mid-May through mid-October, these 90-minute tours cover a 10-block area. They start at the Astoria Nordic Heritage Park, explore architectural heritage, and finish downtown near the Flavel House Museum.

Astoria Underground Tour: Located on Marine Drive, this 1-hour tour takes you beneath the streets into historic tunnels and pathways.

Self-Guided Walks

The Astoria Riverwalk: This 6.5-mile trail traces the Columbia River shoreline. It stretches from the Port of Astoria past historic pilings, local breweries (like Buoy Beer), and views of the Astoria-Megler Bridge.

Astoria Column: Take a scenic (and steep) walk up to the 125-foot Astoria Column, climb the 164 steps to the top, and enjoy panoramic views of the region. (Check out the related post.)

Downtown Historic District: Start at the Columbia River Maritime Museum and wander up to the steep, 19th-century residential hills to visit architectural landmarks and famous filming sites from The Goonies.
