The Wreck of the Peter Iredale

The Peter Iredale Shipwreck is likely one of the most famous features of Astoria's beach. The Peter Iredale ran ashore in 1906 as it navigated the treacherous waters of the Columbia River and has been there since. This stretch of coast was known as the “Graveyard of the Pacific”.
